LEGO Investor rating: STRONG BUY

Everyone loves Yoda + everyone loves LEGO = potential for profit.

And LEGO 75168 is a sure-fire winner for the following reasons:
  • Star Wars LEGO sets are among the best performing after retirement. They are generally well made, the minifigures are great and Star Wars fans across the world number in their millions.
  • Once a LEGO set retires, 99 per cent of the time it says retired. Future Star Wars fans born today will want this LEGO set, so if you snap it up now the only way they can get it is from a reseller like you.
  • Buy-in is low. Amazon currently has the set at a lower than RRP price (only £16.00) so there has never been a better time to buy a few sets for your portfolio.
  • And finally, one of the main reasons to buy now is that this set was released in December 2016 - it won't be around for much longer.
So Yoda and his starfighter could disappear anytime between now and Christmas and 2018 .
With the price of this set so low, and a pretty much guaranteed profit at resale we at LEGO Investor have bought into this set while it's still on shelves and advise you to do the same.

LEGO Investor rating STRONG BUY: LEGO 75168 Yoda's Jedi Starfighter at Amazon.

LEGO Tower Bridge 10214 likely to retire soon

LEGO Investor rating: WATCH

There's a very good chance that LEGO Tower Bridge 10214 will retire by the end of the year. This iconic set was first released in 2010. It's very rare to see a set as large as this one (4295 pieces) stick around for 8 years so now or in the very near future is a good time to buy the set before it disappears at RRP prices.
Picture

The set itself is remarkable, as one of LEGO's iconic world buildings, and we think it will command a high price on the resale market.

Some of the coolest facts about this set:
  • Includes 4 miniature vehicles; a black London taxi, a traditional red double-decker bus, a yellow truck and a green automobile
  • Completed model measures 40" (102 cm) long, 17" (45 cm) high and 10" (26 cm) wide
  • Includes 4 miniature vehicles: a black London taxi, a yellow truck, green automobile and even a traditional red double-decker bus
  • Features the iconic paired towers and a drawbridge that really opens and closes

It also complements LEGO Big Ben 10253 really well and the two together in a London city scene is a perfect way to build or buy the set. So while we rate LEGO Tower Bridge 10214 as WATCH, we think it'll be moving to a BUY rating very soon.

The Eiffel Tower - LEGO 21019

LEGO Investor rating: WATCH

The Eiffel Tower is one of the world’s most popular landmarks, attracting millions of curious visitors from around the world each year.

LEGO's The Eiffel Tower set is a very popular model because of this. And here at LEGO Investor we think its popularity will last for years after its eventual retirement.

Here's why we think it's one to watch:

LEGO 21019 is the only set from the Architecture series that was released in 2014 and is still on sale! That 4 years of shelf life means two things:

1. It's been an extremely popular set with LEGO selling lots of them, so there has been no reason to retire it (aka a cash cow).

2. Very rarely does any LEGO stay in production for four long years,

Once LEGO does decide to retire it (before Christmas 2018 to make way for the new sets in the series is a good bet), investors will want to try and pick up a few sets at RRP or on sale (£29.99 or below).

Though the long shelf life suggests lots of other resellers will have stocked up too, the enduring popularity of this set means you should be able to make a tidy profit over a 1-2 investment horizon.

We see it gaining 5-10 per cent value annually  (yep, that's way higher than your bank is paying you on savings interest).

Porsche 911 GT3 RS - LEGO 42056 races to the end of the line

PictureLEGO 42056 - a feat of toy engineering
LEGO Investor rating: BUY

Iconic. LEGO's 2704 piece rendition of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is also a work of art - and like many of the very best works of art, its value is set to sky rocket over the years.

Why do we have a BUY rating on this set?

The level of detail is extraordinary. The Porsche engineering team worked on designing the set and it shows.

It is highly likely to retire soon. LEGO recently released the Technic Bugatti Chiron. The economics of the retail industry suggests there isn't space on the shelves or production capacity for both. LEGO wants all the hype to be for the new Chiron set. We think the Porsche 911 set will retire within the next 6 months.

LEGO car sets generally do well. Sets like this even more so, as they appeal in particular to those that can't afford the real thing but would shell out for the LEGO model (think Top Gear fans). It's highly collectible and demand will extend for years beyond its retirement,

Buy-in is currently at a decent level. RRP is £259.99 but Amazon has it at less.

We think this investment is a medium-term hold but can see prices rising by enough to make a strong profit soon after retirement.

LEGO Investor recommends you add this set to your portfolio now or you risk missing out on profitable investment and / or an amazing set simply to build.

LEGO Investor product rated BUY: LEGO 42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS at Amazon.
